The first GP in Europe for this year had given Rossi a very big luck after just managed to be at 2nd place podium in 2 earliest GP that being held in Asia...
In Jerez, Rossi had managed to get the lead on the last 10 laps from 2nd place winner, Dani Pedrosa while MotoGP Qatar winner, Case Stoner managed to be at the last podium in 3rd place... For the previous overall leader and MotoGP Japan winner, Jorge Lorenzo also from team Yamaha, MotoGP Spain does not give him a better luck after he losing his control while the race just only have 3 laps left while he was at 4th place at that moment... He'd finally finished at 17th place...
As the overall standing after 3 MotoGP finished, Rossi in the 1st place with 65 points, while Stoner in 2nd place with 54 points... Lorenzo and Pedrosa are in 3rd place after both managed to collect 41 points... Next GP will be at Le Mans as MotoGP France will be held on 17 May 2009...
